CUSTOMS PREVENTIVE DIVISION, KAKINADA

The Customs Preventive Division Kakinada has jurisdiction over the districts of East Godavari (excluding Port areas of KDWP and Anchorage Port), East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Union Territory of Yanam with total of about 410 Km Coast line. Shore Guard Customs Preventive (SGCP) formations of Kakinada (Entire East Godavari District and the Union Territory of Yanam 162 Km Coast Line) and Narsapur (36 km coast line of entire West Godavari District) and Machipalipatnam (130 Km coast line of Krishna and 72 Km Coast line of Guntur District) functions under the control of Customs  reventive Division. Kakinada.

The primary objective of Customs Preventive Division is prevention of smuggling activities i.e., smuggling of foreign goods, electronic items, Gold, Cigarettes, foreign currency, FICN, weapons, drugs etc., in its jurisdiction. Nearly 8 Marine Police Stations have been established by the State Govt. of AP in the jurisdiction of this division . 2 more Marine Police Stations are in the pipe line. Two Indian Coast Guard Stations i.e., one at Kakinada (for East & West Godavari Districts) and other at Nizampatnam (For Krishna & Guntur Districts) are operating in the jurisdiction of Kakinada division. Deputy Directors, Fisheries department; Port Director, State Ports Department, are stationed at Kakinada. Officers of Customs Preventive Division &
SGCPs have been coordinating with Coastal Security (Marine) police, law and order police, Indian Coast Guard, Government Railway Police, Income Tax Department, Department of Revenue Intelligence and local Customs & Central Excise departments for sharing of information /intelligence. Efforts are being made to cultivate informers and gather intelligence regarding smuggling activities.


Consequent to the establishment of Customs Preventive Division, at Kakinada, 6 Anti-smuggling cases have been registered. Awareness camps are being conducted by officers of SGCP in fishermen villages to educate villagers about smuggling activities and to seek their cooperation in containing the same. SGCP officers are participating in 'Hamla operation' , a preparatory exercise being conducted by coastal security agencies such as Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Coastal security police, to keep on aler['and to face any sort of offence on Indian coast.


Proposed Seaports / Airpofts in the jurisdiction of CPD, Kakinada :
Machilipatnam. Land acquisition work for the said port is under progress. At present no port related activities are taking place at Machilipatnam.
International Air Port by the State of Govt of Andhra Pradesh.

 

Customs Preventive Division, Ongole

The Customs Pre ntive Division, Ongole has jurisdiction over the districts of Prakasam, Nellore, Chittore, Cuddapah,,Ananthapur and Kurnool
(354 km from north to south i.e., from Prakasam to Chittoor and 331 km from Nellore to Ananthapur i.e., from East to est, 105km coast line of Prakasam district and 169km coast line of Nellore district) and Shore Guard Customs Preventive (SGCP) fo ations of Ongole, Nellore and Sullurupet function under the control of Customs Preventive Division, Ongole.

The primary o ective of Customs Preventive Division is Prevention of smuggling activities i.e., smuggling of foreign goods, electronic items, Gold, Cigarettes, ign currency, weapons, drugs etc., in its jurisdiction. Officers, of Superintendent of Police, The commander, Coast Guard, joint Director, Fisheries Department, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Government Railway Police a situated in Nellore, Tirupathi. Officers of Customs Preventive Division & SGCPs have been coordinating with Coast Security (Marine) police and Government Railway Police and Local Customs & Central Excise departments r sharing of information/intelligence. Sea port is coming at Dugar apatnam of Nellore District and Internal Air port at Tirupathi.

 

Customs Preventive Division Visakhapatnam

The Customs Preventive Division Visakhapatnam has jurisdiction over the districts of Visakhapatnam (excluding areas covered by GVMC), Vizianagaram  and  Srikakulam. Shore Guard Customs Preventive (SGCP) formations of Visakhapatnam (160 km coast line including 28 km coast of
Vizianagaram district) and Srikakulam (193 km coast line) function under the control of Customs Preventive Division Visakhapatnam . The primary o ective of Customs Preventive Division is prevention of smuggling activities i.e., smuggling of foreign goods, electronic items, Gold, Cigarettes, reign currency, weapons, drugs etc., in its jurisdiction. Offices of - Addl. Superintendent of Police, Coastal Security Police tCSPI (Headquarters of CSP is proposed to be established in Visakhapatnam ) ; The commander, Coast Guard district No.6; Joint Director, Fisheries department;  Deputy Superintendent  of  Police,  Government Railway Police are situated in Visakhapatnam .
